Finding the inner voice through art
In this series I am going on a journey to find what really makes my art uniquely mine. Finding my own style and expression. In the first episode I explored primitive art
Part 2:
Neurographic art
It starts with the heart

What is Neurographic Art?
NEUROGRAPHIC ART
is a therapeutic art form developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014.
Neurographic art is a meditative, intuitive process designed to connect the conscious and unconscious mind, helping to transform stress and difficult emotions into visual healing. The practice involves:
- SCRIBBLING: Drawing free-form, looping lines for a few seconds while focusing on a specific concern or stressor.
- ROUNDING: Identifying all intersections and sharp corners in the drawing and smoothing them into rounded shapes.
- COLORING: Adding color to the resulting shapes to enhance balance and emotional resonance.

Colors speak louder than words
Bold colored neurographic abstract created entirely in Rebelle
After creating the classic line figures for neurographic art, I decided to add some other images, creating some sort of a “scrapbook” style.
I like the happy vibes this gives 🙂
The painting to the left was created by starting with the lines. For the painting below, I first created the happy bear in Rebelle, and then added lines emitting from the bear. Just to see what I would get.
Playing with collage and bold colors
Did I say CAT yet?
Of course I couldn’t resist playing with a cat.
In this case I used a cat with a “f*** you” attitude.
One of the things about this process of discovery is that no emotion is “off-limits”. There is an absolute freedom of expression.
It looks like I need to add a separate post on colors. It is an entire topic on its own. Meantime I am offering this
as a download in case you like to experiment with colors (includes the cat!)

A road map
Â
In line with the theme of the quest for the inner artist, a roadmap may come in handy.
The lines of the neurographic art are not only resembling neurons or seaweed, but I also see the lines as roads, paths to travel on.
This painting has a vintage compass and map with minimal use of colors.
I’m discovering that I may just like too many different styles. Is that a problem?
I don’t know, I’ll find out …

Conclusion
To conclude this post: I really like neurographic art. It is fun and relaxing to do.
But I find myself having a tendency to combine it with all sorts of other things. 🙂
I also wanted to listen to music while doing the lines
(I usually work in silence, so that is new).
Try this:
Lovely French chansons …
Enjoy and till the next episode!
