THE WITCH WITH
THE FLYING TOOTHBRUSH
This book tells the story of the witch Eustasia, who’s living in an old crumbling castle.
Of course there is no story if the witch does not have a cat.
Enter the naughty black cat Mischiepuss.
Cats like to be center stage and this cat is no exception: soon you’ll find yourself following wild and hilarious adventures as the cat turns out to be both playful and brave.
And what has that magical toothbrush to do with this?
You will find it out in this free e-book that for sure will leave you with a big smile on your face! 😉
For appr. 4-8 years, can be read by the older children, and read to younger ones. Also fun for adults! 🙂
The story behind this book
Originally this book appeared in the Dutch language in 2000. It was written as part of a playful oral health education program, together with online games for children.
You can see this in conjunction with the Happy Smile Project, an oral health support program for young children that was developed with local organizations in Shatila, Beirut.
Although the book does not say anything about how often to brush or what techniques to use, it is a soft reminder to pay attention.
Many children have ended up in hospitals to have all their teeth be removed as a result of negligence or lack of knowledge. This book is a soft nudge to help prevent that.
In this revised edition, Google Gemini has created the illustrations.
All of them are edited by myself.
Questions and topics to discuss
The book offers several opportunities to engage with your child (or yourself) in fun discussions.
Here are some ideas:
► The differences between good and evil. Is the witch really evil? And what about the cat? Or the prince?
► Make it a game to find the inconsistencies in the images!
► Witches have their unique vocabulary. Which words would you like to add?
► What are your favorite games and passtimes?
► Consider all aspects of healthy teeth and how to care for them
► If you’d be invited to draw a cat, what would it look like?
